1. Christ Jesus is the only one that can save sinners. Not your money. Not your priest. Not Mary. Not even your own works.

2. Salvation cannot be bought. It doesn’t matter how much you give to the church or other ministries. Your money cannot save you. Only Jesus can.

3. Your works are but filthy rags. No matter how much ‘good’ you do, you cannot earn your own salvation. Only Jesus can do that.

4. Jesus hears our cries, prayers, praises, and confessions. There is no need to go through a mediator or a priest. Christ is our mediator and has mercy on us.

5. Christians have been legally declared justified and have been acquitted from the punishment of their sin. You don’t need to earn extra merit or grace, because Jesus has finished this glorious work. You just need to put your faith in Christ.

6. Solely trusting a priest to interpret the meaning of Scripture is damning. History has shown us that this leads to corruption and deceit. Reading the Bible for yourself will change your heart, mind, and life, and will keep you in line with what Scriptures truly have to say.

7. Even popes and priests are sinners. All have sinned. There are none righteous, no not one. This is why Jesus Christ needed to be our holy, righteous, acceptable sacrifice. God’s wrath was poured onto Him as His righteousness was lavished onto us.

8. Praying to Mary is found nowhere in the Scripture, and has no effect. (See points 4,6). Instead, pray directly to the one who hears your prayers and answers them all, Christ.

The Reformation is a story of how the church went from darkness to light. The Gospel is a beautiful and strong message about how Christ died for your sins and rose triumphantly from the grave. Your justification is by faith alone, through grace, in Christ alone. How wonderful!

Oh lowly sinner… repent and believe. Trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. Be reconciled to God. We can do nothing to save ourselves, but run to our strong Savior.

Luther’s 62nd thesis states, “The true treasure of the church is the most holy gospel of the glory and grace of God.”
